A Fabulous dream

 

"Fabulous" is the first fully auto-produced CD of GilloSosia.

It is the result of years of passion and research in the world of music mixed up with a lucky meeting.

GilloSosia have been playing for many years and they have a really great experience in live performances as a cover band.

Friendship, passion for funk music and love for all music in general has lead them to create something of their own to give them the chance to fully express their creativity.

Everyone in the band has given to this project all the passion, time, love and devotion which every great dream needs to be fulfilled.

Henry Hirsch has been a fundamental figure as he has given them the chance to test themselves and to record an album with the same procedures of the 70s. That's the way they've been able to achieve the typical sound of funk legends they get inspired from.

 

Henry Hirsch is the studio engineer and producer of Lenny Kravitz since his debut album "Let Love Rule" in 1989.

During the years many important artists collaborated with him from Madonna to Vanessa Paradis. Hirsch's Waterfront Studios (NY, USA) are in a XVIII century church and they are a true paradise for every musician.

 

"My work with Angelo began in February 2010 with the hope of improving his music and to reach a high standard.

We proceeded to work alone on his songwriting and lyric. With lot of hard work, a group of sessions accomplished an excellent cd, fully realizing the work we had set forth. Angelo and all the other guys of the band have shown great dedication in making this process work and that's the reason why they will continue to work with me with the same method."

To have the chance to collaborate with Henry Hirsch has been a truly great honour for me.

I've ever dreamt of recording an album with a certain sound quality and Henry gave me the chance to make my dream come true.

When I first sent Henry the tracks he has been immediatly interested in a collaboration.

I knew that our funk/soul genre was something he really liked and I was sure we needed him to let our sound as well as the quality of our musical production grow.

The collaboration with Henry started on February 2010 and it was tough since the beginning as his quality requests were very high.

The work we've done together started from breaking down the structure of every song's melody and we've also done a lot of work on the lyrics and on my English pronounciation.

 

On August 2010 I've left towards Waterfront Studios in Hudson with 4 other guys of the band. Over there in ten days of really hard work we've recorded "Fabulous" our first funk album with 9 tracks.

All the equipement was analogical and that has given us the chance to achieve the typical sound of funk masters as Earth, Wind and Fire, Curtis Mayfield and Stevie Wonder.

On the other hand this really complicated our work because when you record on reel mistakes are not allowed.
What you record is what you're going to listen on the album and there is no  way to correct or modify something as it is possible with the digital recording process.

 

During the recording sessions at the Waterfront Studios many young musical talents of the New York scene collaborated with us.

Gabriel Garzon-Montano has written all the arrangements for strings and horns and he has also played percussions in some tracks. We have also had Zachary Koeber on tenor saxophone, Jonathan Talbott on violin and Adrienne Mack-Davis on background vocals.

Another important collaboration in the realising of "Fabulous" has been that one with Chris Theis.

Chris is a long time collaborator of Henry Hirsch and he has followed the final process of the mastering. Towards Chris' career success we cannot forget his Grammy award for the realising of Carlos Santana's album "Supernatural".
